Family History - Clark

We've had a recent enquiry about the Clark family. This line starts with Thomas and Catherine (nee Pattison) Clark who came out from Scotland in the early 1860s and married in 1865 in Riverton. They settled in Isla Bank and then moved to Heddon Bush, retiring in Winton c. 1912. They had five children. David married Rhoda Parry in 1894 and settled in Otautau; and his sister, Margaret married James Ryan in 1890 and settled in Bayswater.

David Clark was a Councillor on the Wallace County Council and had a successful Clydesdale breeding business. His best known horse was Tam O'Shanter.

It is our understanding that there was a Clark family reunion in 1991 in Isla Bank. Does anyone have any information on this family reunion and/or have relevant photographs? If so, please contact us via email - thanks!

Unveiling of Plaque

On Monday evening, the 10th of March at 7:30pm, there will be an unveiling of a memorial plaque at the Courthouse to honour and recognise the tremendous contribution that Muriel Brown made in her lifetime to the people and organisations of Otautau & Districts. This is a public function open to all who knew and loved Muriel. Following a brief unveiling ceremony, there will be an opportunity for anyone on behalf of themselves or their organisation to say a few words in appreciation of Muriel. A cup of tea and light supper will follow. Members of Muriel's family plan to be present. This event is being sponsored by the Otautau Lions Club and the Otautau Museum Trust.

We're open Wednesdays and Sundays, 2pm-4pm, and by request. Your comments are always welcome!

Babies Have Left the Building

We took down the Wee Ones display today. Thanks to all who loaned their special family treasurers - baby photos, christening gowns and handknitted clothing. As usual, we are humbled by the community support we get to put on displays.

And thanks to Margaret Gutsell for making the 'deconstruction' process so easy. She carefully packed things up and delivered them to their owners.

Watch this space for news of the next display.
